What do I need to bring with me?

If your child/young person has a clinic appointment please bring with you:

  • a vest and shorts for the assessment
  • specialist footwear or orthotics if your child/young person uses them
  • any letters or information regarding your child/young person if you feel it would be helpful
  • a drink for your child/young person for after the assessment/treatment session
When will my child be seen?

We aim to see children/young people within 18 weeks of receiving the referral. Some referrals that we consider as urgent or high priority we aim to see within 3 and 6 weeks respectively.

When a referral has been received it is triaged by a member of the physiotherapy team, prioritised and placed on the appropriate waiting list. You will receive a letter from us acknowledging that your child is on the waiting list.

When you have reached the top of our waiting list you may receive an 'opt-in' letter to call us and book an appointment, or an appointment letter.

Who are we?

We are a team of 13 Chartered Physiotherapists and 1 Physiotherapy Assistant and are all registered under the The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). We are specialised in treating babies, children and young people with a range of medical conditions.

We recognise the importance of working together with the child/young person, parents and carers to maximise the child's functional abilities and independence.

Our advice and treatment is based on an assessment of the child/young person's needs. An individual treatment plan will be agreed with the child/young person and parent/carer. This can be in the form of advice and an exercise/management programme. We recommend that this is then integrated into your child/young person's daily routine at home.

Children are seen in clinics, at home, and in nursery/school as necessary.

Please see the 'Our services' section at the top of this page for more information on each of the specialities we cover
