NHS COVID-19 vaccinations have saved countless lives, kept tens of thousands of people out of hospital, and helped us to live with the virus without fear or restrictions

The Spring 24 Covid-19 vaccination campaign started on 15th April 2024 for care home residents and eligible housebound people.

All other eligible people are now able to book their appointment, to take place from 22nd April. Spring vaccinations will be available until 30 June 2024.

If you are turning 75 years of age between April and June 2024, you will be invited for vaccination during this campaign, you do not have to wait for your birthday.

You will be able to book a seasonal COVID-19 vaccine online or by calling NHS 119.

The last date you will be able to get your seasonal COVID-19 vaccine is 30 June 2024.

The NHS is offering COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 6 months to 4 years who are at increased risk from COVID-19 due to certain medical conditions, in line with expert advice from JCVI. Eligible children will be invited by local NHS services.

All COVID-19 vaccines offered by the NHS have been tested on thousands of people across the world and have met the strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness outlined by the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Can I book a COVID-19 vaccination?

From 15th April 2024, Residents in care homes for older adults and eligible housebound people will start to get vaccinated.

From 15th April 2024, Appointments can be booked using the National Booking System (NBS) for eligible people to book a Covid-19 vaccination online, via the NHS App or by calling 119, to take place from 22nd April 2024.

From 22nd April 2024 , Covid-19 Vaccinations Site's commence their Spring 24 clinics for those eligible.

National Covid-19 vaccination invitation letters will start to land from 15th April 24.

  • The National Booking System will allow self-declaring individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed (as defined in tables 3 or 4 in the COVID-19 chapter of the Green Book) to use the self-declaration route to book an appointment.
Who can currently get a COVID-19 vaccine?

Eligible groups are:

  • All residents in care homes for older adults are eligible, as per JCVI guidance.
  • Persons aged 75 years and over (by 30 June 2024)
  • Persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group – see Green Book (Tables 3 and 4) for a full list of eligible clinical conditions and medical treatments.
  • Persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts (as defined in the Green Book) of people with immunosuppression.

How can I get a vaccine for my child aged 6 months to 4 years old?

Local NHS services (such as your GP surgery) will invite eligible children for their vaccinations and arrange their appointments.

If your child is eligible because they are at increased risk from COVID-19, please wait to be contacted.

How can I get an additional vaccine for someone with a severely weakened immune system?

Your specialist will assess whether you need an additional vaccine. They will make a referral and advise on the best timing for vaccination around your planned treatment. Speak to your specialist for more information.

Who is at increased risk from COVID-19?

Some people are at increased risk from COVID-19, for example due to a health condition or their age.
