Wheelchair and Posture Services

This part of the website has been designed specifically for GPs, Clinical Commissioning groups, care homes and other care professionals who need the service referral information or access to Trust policies and care leaflets.

How do Care Professionals refer into this service?

For submitting first or new referrals, it is important that GPs access a professional who has completed our Wheelchair Referrers’ course, or attend one of the half day courses produced by the service. Contact the team using the number on this page for more information. The dedicated referral form which is available to trained referrers should be completed either electronically or posted back to the service.

GPs can refer someone who is already known to the service by telephone, email or by letter by contacting the team by using the numbers on this page.

Types of patients regularly seen

The service normally sees people with a long term disability including:

  • neurological trauma (head injuries)
  • spinal injuries
  • elderly/frail people
  • children born with a congenital condition

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair private wheelchairs?

We currently do not provide this facility.

Do you provide wheelchairs into nursing homes?

Only for very complex health requirements.

Do you provide blue badges?

No - you will need to contact Shropshire Council as they are responsible for issuing blue badges.

Do you provide wheelchairs/ scooters for outside use only?

We do not provide this facility.

Do you provide powered sports wheelchairs?

We do not provide this facility.
