What does sensory processing mean?
We have eight different sensory systems, five of them are more well known, and three of them you may not have heard of before. Everybody experiences the world in different ways, sometimes the way your body processes sensory information can make it difficult to join in with daily life or experiences.
The video provided at the end of this section is from Kent Community Health Foundation Trust, it helps to explain how our sensory systems interact and can influence our daily lives. Please click here to play video.
Sensory Questionnaires and Information
Below is a little more information on each of our sensory systems. There is also a link to a sensory questionnaire in each section, which has been kindly provided by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, please use these to get a better understanding of your child's individual sensory needs.
